When you directly enter “12.10” in the cell, Excel does not treat the number you enter as a date, but treat it as a numerical value.

To enter the date, you should enter it in the date format: 12-10

The separator should use the bar, don’t use the decimal point!

May 1: Your cell format is not set at all: then 12.10 is a regular number, naturally it will show 12.1

Maybe 2: You set the format, but the cell Not enough length: just increase the cell width to increase

    possible 3: cell setting–number–date–select 3-14 type

It is not possible to enter 12.10 directly. Add the year. Such as: 2017.12.10

may be due to the small size of the gap in the table. It is recommended to lengthen and enlarge one point and it will be displayed.
