stm32 is a single-chip microcomputer, which is a control chip.
CAN bus is a communication protocol, just like our serial port, used for communication between devices.
Just like our serial port requires a MAX232 chip for logic conversion, CAN also needs a special CAN chip support.
Single-chip ordinary IO pin is connected to the CAN chip. After the MCU sends the communication signal to the CAN chip for logic conversion, the CAN chip puts the signal on the CAN bus to transmit. After the signal reaches the destination, it enters another CAN chip, and the CAN chip will process it well. The signal is given to the target chip.
But our stm32 is more powerful than ordinary single-chip microcomputers, and this CAN chip has been integrated into stm32, so we don’t need to connect external chips. The stm32 has a dedicated CAN port for transmitting and receiving CAN signals.
In fact, the CAN protocol is a simplified network protocol, the so-called CAN chip is like our network card, and stm32 is a CPU with integrated network card!
