Sometimes the application we installed on the Windows system cannot be uninstalled due to an error. We need to delete it manually. What should I do? At this point we should first remove the application registration information from the registry, and then manually delete the application’s installation folder from the resource manager. So, where is this registry key? Many people may know that it is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall. However, when we browsed all the registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall, we found that the applications in the “Add and Remove Programs” list in the Control Panel do not seem to be all displayed. Here, for example, the Office series we used often can’t find the corresponding registry key. What is going on here? It turns out that in addition to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall, there are two other registry keys for saving registered application information: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer \Products. If we add all the applications defined by these three registry entries, we are all the programs we see in the Add Remove Programs list. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products are mainly used to save applications based on Windows Installer installation, such as Office; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall is mainly used to save those based on Other installer applications, such as the common InstallShield-based application. Therefore, if we need to manually remove the application, if you can’t find the corresponding registry key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall, be sure to check HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft \Installer\Products.
